                  "FILTRATION SYSTEM PAYS FOR ITSELF IN WEEKS"

An Eclipse Magnetics magnetic filtration system recently installed at automotive parts manufacture ThyssenKrupp has paid for itself within ‘weeks”.

The company, supplier of sub-frames, chassis and suspension components to the likes of BMW, Ford, Honda, Jaguar and Volvo, regularly had to take its de-greasing plant out of commission so it could replace expensive pumps, worn out by a build up of abrasive “sludge”. This sludge largely consists of fine steel particles, brought in with raw materials and produced by processes the materials have been through before reaching the de-greasing plant.

Pump protection: A high intensity magnetic filtration system, installed in front of the pumps, removes the particles before they can enter the pumps, with impressive results.

Chris Carlon, the company engineer involved with the project explains:  

“From a previous situation of having to replace pumps at least once a week, since the magnetic filter was fitted in-line to the pre-pump stage of the process, it has not been necessary to replace one single pump.

“Such are the magnitude of the savings made; we have been able to measure our payback period in terms of weeks rather than months.

"As our initial installation has proved so successful, we are now in the process of fitting Eclipse Magnetics high intensity liquid filters to our remaining de-greasing lines”.
